Eseeola Lodge is truly a retreat to nature. If you enjoy canoeing or trout fishing, nearby Grandmother Creek and Kawana Lake are ideal. For leisurely walks or vigorous hikes, we have a variety of paths on our grounds — or venture just a bit farther toward Grandfather Mountain for trails that reveal waterfalls, bridges, and miles of mountain scenery. Don't forget your binoculars for spotting birds and butterflies.
Eseeola Fly Fishing School Rates
One hour class covering basic equipment, casting instruction, knot tying, fly selection, and catch-and-release techniques:

Two hour class focusing more on casting technique, improving distance and accuracy, alternative casts, advanced knot tying, and fly presentation. Included in this class is a detailed cast analysis using the Sage casting analyzer:

Three hour class featuring a customized class format based on what the student wants to cover for one hour followed by a two hour wade trip on the Linville River ( subject to fishing conditions and availability of river beats). The Kawana fishing club members have priority usage of the private beats on the river, wade trips will be conducted at alternate locations if the beats are full.

Full day guided float trips to the South Holston or the Watauga River for trout. Smallmouth bass fishing on the Nolichucky and the New River also available. Lunch and gear provided.

The Sage Casting Analyzer will be offered to anyone wanting to know more about their casting technique ( quite humbling I might add).

Rental Equipment: Fly fishing rods and reels, waders and boots, and other accessories will be available to members and guests of the lodge on a daily or multi-day rental plan. Check with Outdoor Programs for availability.

Rods and reels as well as other fishing gear will be available for purchase through Outdoor programs on a special order basis.
A two hour fly tying class will be offered one night a week at the office of Outdoor Programs. Instruction and video will be provided as well as refreshments. Bring your vise, or we can provide one for you ( fishermen have lots of “vises”). Lots of fun and camaraderie.

Outdoor Programs
Sporting Clays: A timeless sport with its roots coming from England, sporting clays is a classic shotgun shooting game that has developed through the years into the ultimate outdoor activity.
The perfect way to enjoy the outdoors at Eseeola, the 5-stand sporting clay venue is designed to serve as a training ground for the novice as well as to challenge the experienced shot. Private and group lessons will be available for members and lodge guests. Ammunition is available for purchase or you may bring your own. Also, Rental guns will be available through Outdoor Programs. Please consider joining us for some shooting fun in this beautiful setting only a short drive from the Lodge.
Private Lesson:$60.00 per hour Group Lesson: $30.00 per person
Eseeola Lodge has two NSCA Level I shooting instructors on hand to help with your shooting needs across the board from beginners to seasoned shooters.
Shooting the 5-stand: $35.00 per 25 targets. Members and guests sign up at Outdoor Programs
Shotgun Rental: $20.00 per session
Canoeing: Eseeola will be adding six new Mad River Legend canoes to their fleet of boats this year in addition to the flat bottom jon boats currently in service. Members and guests will have the option to rent their watercraft of choice as they enjoy a fun filled day on the lake. Canoeing classes will be offered through Outdoor Programs and will cover basic strokes, advanced techniques, safety, and water rescue.
Canoe Rental: $25.00 per day ( includes paddles, PFDs )
Canoe Classes: Two hour private lesson: $60.00
Two hour Group lesson: $30.00 per person
